  • Some of you critics are funny, I am a practicing paramedic and SAR tech and know from experience that there's nothing in a back packers FA kit that is gonna make that much of a difference if it takes 3 minutes to get out!!! CPR mask not important in the 1st 2 min of an arrest as emphasis is on compressions and any arterial bleed can be controlled with a hand, pressure point, elevation and belt or cord!!!!! It's not important where your geek kit goes, top or bottom, whatever works! The video was

  • seems pretty sloppy to me

  • @ianrsigel ouch

  • @Tributorious Why are you discussing your genitalia?

  • Are you serious?!? First aid kit at the bottom???? So if your pocket mask is in your first aid kit and you're partner's in cardiac arrest, you have to root through all your gear (including your crampons which were packed conveniently right next to your first aid kit) just to get to the kit... No. First aid kit should be IMMEDIATELY accessible.

  • Man , seriously .. get a bigger backpack . You sure can use one . No offense ..

  • Just about everything one could do wrong you’ve demonstrated. You’re teaching new backpackers bad backpacking skills. If you’re bleeding out, how can adrenaline get through your body so you can pull everything out of your backpack to get to your first aid kit!! That is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard an “expert” state!! You are the hiker we read about who ends up missing. I can’t believe you have a backpacking website!! Your skills are far from even an intermediate backpacker.

  • If he took the time he could fit all that gear a lot better. Not such a fan of the stuff it and run theory.

  • Very informativ, thank you.

Just got a small question: How big is your backpack (litres)?

  • Very smart packing! My ice axe is alot shorter than yours and I don't have a helmet :(
