Great way to destroy perfectly good brakes. Magura Mineral oil; the oil used in the brakes is called BLUE BLOOD. It's supposed to be blue as opposed to DOT fluid used in other brakes which is reddish yellow. In a pinch you can use off the shelf mineral oil. I don't suggest filling them with water. The problem with water is that at high temps it will BOIL OFF making your brakes squishy and largely useless as steam is compressible. This is one of the worst things you can do to the brakes.

why would you do this when the magura manual says you can run them on COOKING OIL

@l3g3ndme Yes it did. But mine lasted about 2 months. My HS33 is quite old and the inner rubber valve is already not working properly, so I had to restore back to blood and changed the valve when I sent it for servicing. My friend has been using water on his HS33 for more than 6 months plus.
