Your talking about raw power here CPU ram etc but I must point out that look and feel are important as well, think of a car with a super powerful engine but no comfort..

@AltirisX To do that , one would need a mac and a windows pc , of the exact same specifications OR price. Of course if you where basing the test on price it would be an easy win on the pc.

@PavleProductions why is gaming on an xbox better than a pc? Why not have all your avenues in one? PC gaming alows you to have superior graphics , Better controls , Cheaper games and peripherals and an all round better experience.

Here is what I do not understand, Mac users say macs are better for 3D Programs (like Maya). Windows users say Windows is better for gaming. Yet games and Maya both use OpenGL.....interesting right?

I use a Mac because of the apps, reliability, speed of average programs and because it is good for school but I game on an Xbox, which is better than gaming on a pc

This isn't a graphics based test. It uses the CPU exclusively, a 590 would do nothing in this instance. The 590 is an amazing card though, I have 2, 6850s and they chug through any game I throw at them on the maximum settings (excluding AA at 24x or anything unrealistic).
I am actually eyeing the 6950 right now. I wish I got one of those cards so that I could get 4 of those. Not so sure the 590 would compete ;)
I will wait for the 7000 series before I go quad! =)

they don't have the same parts.. the Toshiba has better components. check the specs.
personally, I'd go with the pc, but I don't agree that the laptops are fairly matched.

The Toshiba does have better specs, correct. I meant, they are in the same price category, the Toshiba would actually be cheaper now. It once was a $2,799 laptop, but that is years ago. It is quite old.
The desktop was once around the price of the Mac but after many upgrades it has spiraled to a cost of $2,400. Not a fair comparison to the Mac at all.
