And Im homesick with state lines. Its been running through my mind over 1,000 times. Oh how I miss the city of the five seasons. My home state, the I O W A. I know its not paradise. But Ill gladly suffer the 6-hour drives. And when I lay my body in my bed Ill know exactly why I came.

Ill pray for the next flight home but settle for the highway. Grab my brush and bag so I can. Paint this map an equal shade of grey. To undivide the lines.

The ring of the telephone in my ear. Speak the words that are so hard to hear. Three minutes of I miss yous and wish you were heres. It helps me see. The how we chose to be. Has made us distant. And the distance it means everything.

And if this dance floor clears before the night is through. Well just laugh and surrender our bodies. And Ill take her winters. And Ill take her summer heat. Just to be back home.
