I saw them live in a tiny club in Canada. This was the sixties and everyone was stoned. The Softies always sounded best that was Their "Third" album took progressive rock to new heights -- or depths, depending on your point of view. IMO their musical integrity (no compromise with commercialism) matched their brilliance.

I would have loved to see them live- they came to Phoenix, but my mother thought I was too young to see them. Damn.

Wow - I only have one Soft Machine album, Rubber Riff, and it's elevator music compared to this. I guess I'd better go back little ways to sample some more of them.
