@Supercyzer You learn something new every day.

@gogetaSSfive actually RE4 was on the gamecube before it got ported to the PS2 ;P
-
@Supercyzer Went ahead and looked it up so this doesn't turn into a shout-fest.
Appearently the combo system came from a glitch in Onimusha, but the setting and everything came from the beta version of re4 (guess I keep forgetting that re4 was originally a ps2 game, so I was wrong about it on that bit,sorry.).
-
@gogetaSSfive Well ckeck out my comment again. I said devil may cry was a result of the rejected BETA version of RE4, not RE4 itself. Capcom basicly started the whole programming all over again after rejecting the 90% completed beta. that's why devil may cry came out before RE4.

@Supercyzer Devil may cry came from a glitch in Onimusha which resulted in being able to juggle enemies in the air with attacks. The developers took it out (it was supposed to be a survival horror game), but it was so fun they went ahead an made an entire game out of it.
And i'm not even mad, bro, but next time, you might wanna check out the timeline on your claims (dmc coming out before re4 but at this time has 4 games in the series with another on the way?How could you ever think that works?)

@SillyGoosesinc I kinda have a love-hate relationship with RE4. It could have been a great game on it's own, there was no real need to rip of the name Resident Evil for it... Like Devil may cry, wich was a result of RE4's rejected beta version.
I'm curious: Zack, in your honest opinion, do you think SH is a good video game series? I love the plots, but they all have such laughable gameplay flaws. I didn't grow up playing them, so it's hard to put it in perspective.

@EctInc I think Silent Hill was a good video game series. The series started in a time when alot of the gameplay flaws they had were a necessary evil due to the technology available at the time. The original is on my short list of video game masterpieces; however the series definitely has not aged well. Ever since The Room the games have been really bad. Homecoming tried to change up the formula but it didn't work since the game design they changed it to absolutely sucked.

@SillyGoosesinc Shattered Memories was another interesting experiment that actually had very few design flaws but unfortunately was lacking a great deal in the horror department. Silent Hill is definitely from the old school of horror game design along with other classics like Resident Evil, what the series really needs is a new game that can fix the design problems while still maintaining everything that was great about the series.

@SillyGoosesinc Essentially they need their own Resident Evil 4 which has its own place on my list of gaming masterpieces.

@SillyGoosesinc RE 4 was a good game, but IMO it led the series to the wrong direction and kinda destroyed it

@Supercyzer The problem was with Resident Evil 5, it's very nearly impossible to have a co-op game that still maintains a horror theme. That's why as stupid as it is people in horror movies always split up, monsters aren't that scary when you've got a bunch of homies packing heat with you. They also put a much greater emphasis on action in that game, which was also kind of a miss-step. Resident Evil 4 on the other hand was just about perfect, the last great RE game.
