i think this is one of the best rock songs of the '00s, and perhaps of all time. the main figure is played on organ -- thanks to the panning i used via my band's PA, you can hear it clearly in the intro -- and two guitars, one played with a loose feel along with the organ, and one played with a forceful, downstroke-oriented attack, which i mimicked here. the chorus is anchored by a buoyant bass guitar figure that i believe is doubled by a guitar playing octaves. i split my time on the chorus between those octaves and the single note figure that alternates D and C notes on the E and B strings, respectively. the bridge is played on the recording by two guitars, so i did my best to condense those into a figure for a single guitar.
