  • zappa was a GENIUS

malmsteem is a geek who is technically good from practising 12 hours a day yngwie is not fit to eat zappa's sh*t

  • Haha at the dumbasses trying to compare Zappa to 'guitar technicians'. Talk about not getting it. Music is about so, SO much more than straight technical acuity with ones instrument. Shawn Lane, Yngwie, Gilbert, etc, etc are beautiful dudes, but their beauty does nothing to diminish that of Frank Zappa. No, Zappa cannot land 20 crystal clear notes in the space of a second, but they cannot create what Zappa does. Apples and Oranges. To make that comparison shows that you really don't 'get it'.

  • How did you get the video where it doesn't cut to the claymatian during the solo

  • I just like to listen to what they have produced for my ears as candy to listen too, all the greats have certain characteristics that make them just that "Great". There are technical guitarists, there are guys like zappa and hendrix that just did amazing shit with their guitars. There is also a lot of other guitarists I have not named here that deserve recognition but that would take to long. So instead of talking about who is better, just listen and enjoy yourselves.

  • @LandonInFlorida I couldnt have said it better myself man

  • @MegaYoshitsune True! You know comparing guitarists is just silly. There are no winners, Zappa is in a different class though. Zappa was a composer who happened to play guitar! It's all about making music and shouldn't be a competition, leave that to sports!

  • Y'know, I'd just like to say, since he's is my favourite musician, Shawn Lane is also much much more than just very technical. There are many brilliant videos of him on this site, although I strongly recommend everyone reading this to check the video called -

     "Hellborg, Lane, Sipe - Improv (Atlanta D&P - 19th Aug 1996)"

Please try to not to fall into the "fast guitarists play with no emotion" thing, Shawn really liked Zappa by the way, not that that's really important.

  • he feels every note and that is why i love him.

  • its a horrible place painted all green on the inside where musicians and former executives take turns snorting detergent and plooking each other

  • @rrhynes

lol, he'd play you under the table, out the door, down the street and round the corner, per se, mate.
