  • IAMDANEDK,

You want to drill just through the top layer. You will feel the drill just go through the top, and then you want to stop.

When you put in the epoxy, it turns out rock hard, like there was no soft spot to begin with. But you need to be a little careful, it will bulge a little if you put in a lot, but it is solid.

  • Sorry, I am from Brazil, and i want to fix some Hobie Cats,,, in some hulls there is a soft places. What is a soft spots for you ? How can a fix ?? from Florianópolis - Santa Catarina - Brazil,,,,thanks !

  • On this boat, the soft spots where right in front of the tramp. They where pretty big. To fix the soft spots I would drill into the soft spot just through the top layer. because DE-lamination, the layers separate. Then you inject epoxy in the middle, and it will harden. I used some stuff called marine west 404 I believe. It worked great!

  • Nice boat fix , I have a h14 project , what paint did you use and did you spray it ore use a roller? Did you put new sidebars in it ? And nice soft spot fix !

  • I sprayed the paint on, but I have heard of people rolling it on, and from what I have seen, it looks pretty good. I also put new neoprene on the rails.
