Apparently the hottest place on earth was recorded in Victoria and South Australia yesterday, 7/02/2009. Temperatures in some parts 50 degrees Celsius, raging hot winds. The worst fire that the state of Victoria has seen, reports of up to 200 people dead and rising up to 1800 homes burnt down, the toll will keep rising. I suspect the figures are only going to get worse. Many of these fires were deliberately lit by arsonists and as of today, there were reports that some arsonists were trying to relight fires that were contained. Some of the fires are from lighting strikes and some are by recklessness from cigarette butts and lighting fires that get out of control. Men and women who voluntarily put their lives on the line to help and ask nothing in return.

  • Thanks for this one. I am not sure how I missed it in the aftermath of Black Sat, but I wish I had seen it. The music score makes it a bit more defiant while still highlighting the tragedy. I even saw some images from my area as well as so many people I knew fighting elsewhere.

  • Great video!

  • heyy man this vid is great, do you mind if i use it at a benifit concert in my town???

  • See in the paper there was a early warning system designed that would of saved many lives but was too expensive (20 million dollars reportidly) so was scrapped. It will now cost a hell of a lot more. Lets hope the dumb arsed government tighten building codes to see the new homes are built with some degree of fire proofing. Its not rocket science but from someone who has dealt with shire councillors, we are doomed so maybe some sackings are in order. All will be revealed in the Royal Commission.

  • Are those who lost their homes going to get some help with a place to stay?

  • really good job on the video. lovely music. my heart sank for those that have lost anything or everything in these fires.
