Over two years, between 2003 and 2005, we wrote and produced dozens of Art Breaks for MTV, little short films serving as distractions from the programming structure. They were 10 seconds long and were produced without a brief or an approval process.

When MTV2 was re-launched in 2004, they took that idea and applied it to their entire identity. They asked dozens of film makers and animators to provide 15 second bits of content — only branded with the two-headed dog logo, but otherwise completely unrelated to anything else on the channel. This imagery was then used as interstitials, bumpers and wallpapers as well as online as a sort of short film festival.

We were one of the companies involved, and presented over 20 concepts. Ten were made into Art Breaks (you can see some of them here), but two of them were liked so much, they were made into 30 second spots: No Clown and Train, both created by Sean Dougherty. Enjoy them here.
