Shadow our boxer dog meets a boxer puppy for the first time. He has never met a puppy so young since he was a puppy himself - he is now a year old, the wee boxer pup is only weeks old. Shadow was drolling constantly, i have never seen him drool at all!

  • I love the reaction dogs give when they meet a puppy - somehow they seem to know to be calm and forgiving towards them :)

  • @Roxythejug he was so caring it's unreal. He's almost 4 now and still acts like a pup - all boxers do! But he has met many puppies since and he's been the same. A staffordshire bull terrier pup next door moved in and he was the same with him. It's now massive but Shadow is so protective of him. I can't underestimate how much I love boxers!

  • @SuperShelbz1 nope, he's met many pups since and is still as fatherly! He's lovely with pups, seems to know they're too young to play rough with. He's a wee gem.

  • @1992jjb this is true. Their tails are too big for their bodies (that's true in Shadow's case) but as he lives in an urban area and isn't running through woodland or similar often it isn't as at risk as maybe even a dog living with a large garden. But it's something i've learned and if you have a boxer and will take him to run in large outdoor places, a long tail isn't ideal. I was dead against it but now I know there are many benefits in some cases for docking. Not all cases though!

  • @thequeensxi theres some good reasons aswell for getting the tale docked. (like all boxer breeds) myn always does happy tail when somone comes in but she wacks it on heavy doors and stuff so we took her too the vet and then hesaid that we might need it took off. becuase she could get it infected and now we dont know if it'sbroken or not.

so that is one of the medical reasons why people get the tails docked

  • @thequeensxi de dog dosnt no the different between a boxer and yorkie! i dnt tink it cares anywy!

  • Thanks :)

  • no, totally different families, i wonder if he knows the pup is a boxer too?

  • I have no idea, it's the first puppy he has met since he too was a pup - if its another dog he goes crazy and wants to play but he was so gentle and curious with the pup. Poor pup got soaked lol

No, we wouldn't want that to happen to a dog just so he looks "better" - his long tail can be annoying when it hits you when he is wagging it, but he is happy and thats all that counts :)

  • Why Shadow drools so much when meeting the puppy?? D:

and omg Blesses for you, few of the people that dont cut Boxer's tail or chop its ears!

Gotta love a dog owner like you. :)
