I'd sooner believe Mr. James over Al Gore.

he is a great weatherman, i live here in alabama, and the world revolves around him when the weather gets bad. he saved several lives the other night when all those tornados came through, and i almost was one of them.

Amen!!! Chuck Doswell even said at our Severe Storm Symposium this Spring that he wishes he could clone James Spann and put him in every severe weather market in America because he actually cares about people and their lives!

And a word of advice... Just because Al Gore says it doesn't make it a FACT!

I'm sure you work for the Birmingham Free Press in Birmingham, AL... If it weren't for James Spann on April 27, 2011 warning many Alabamians of the one of the worst tornado outbreaks since the Super Outbreak of 1974, I'm sure there would have been many more lives lost than what was lost. Why don't you go to Tuscaloosa and tell the people that lost everything that James Spann is not a "real" meteorologist and see what kind of response you get.

For those less informed, they might be interested to know that much of the severe weather and tornado data we have today is thanks in large part due to the work done by Miss. State's storm chasing team who risk their lives every Spring to help learn more about tornadoes and severe weather not just for Mississippi, but for the entire nation to be better prepared.

Meteorologists spend their lives studying weather, not just one portion of the weather or a blanket overview of the weather as climatologists do. When climatologists are on TV saying "this hurricane season" or "this warming than average Winter" are signs of something, meteorologists can explain why they actually aren't, what is actually causing them, and why they are not unique or that unusual to begin with.
