Bloodhound SSC 1000 mph rocket car, land speed record attempt

Equinox Graphics is proud to present the visualisation of Bloodhound SSC, the trans-sonic rocket car aiming to smash the current land speed record and raise it to a mind-bending 1000 mph (Mach 1.4). The car is being designed and built in Britain, and Equinox Graphics has had the privilege of working in association with the design team to bring the car to life.
The minute-long viral video was produced on time and at High Definition (1920x1080, 25fps, full GI/radiosity) in just three weeks - including rendering time on our computer cluster.

The animation has proved extremely popular with the world's media, and has proved to be the ideal medium for engaging the public's imagination. It has so far been featured on BBC news (TV and online), and on stations as diverse as CNN and Al Jazeera.

If people have the time, money and will to do this, I say go for it. Something new could be learned that can benefit all of us or even help save lifes. There are much worse things they could be doing.

@robby123ism How can you say there is no benefit from this project? Ever consider the potential R&D that can be gained and applied to other fields?

The world doesn't benefit from knowing about brangelina's sex life either, but for some reason or other we still keep them around... Maybe someday this technology can be used to propel them into space, far, far away from here.

@robby123ism sometimes the world needs a "bit more awesome and little less suck". In other words why not do it? It is breaking speed records and is an amazing piece of engineering. If the whole human race just sat around trying not to better/improve ourselves we would get nowhere. Humans have an unquenchable thirst for improvement and to overcome challenges because of things like determination and curiosity. (that's why we love places like space and its endless possibilities, etc) :)
