Cats make that sound when they are hunting for a prey.. its natural.

The clicking noise they make is thought to imitate a bat's echo-location. It doesn't work for the cat, but can provoke a defensive response in some moths to drop to the flaw. This would usually save a moth from a bat, but gives the cat a free snack.

@sphen87 my cat does the same when i flash the laser pointer to the celing, the clicking noise is a noise of hunting

My cat does this when I get the laser pointer close to him right before he jumps on the light on the floor. I think he is speaking some African language.
