'Out of Nowhere' (Version 1) - Jazz piano tutorial.
This is a video rendering of one of three midi files that I recorded many years ago. I intended to take three different approaches to this tune - one of the commonly assigned tunes to learn as part of a jazz studies course. This version uses mainly a left hand walking bass line. I will try to render the other 2 midi files in the same way.
The video and the original midi file can be downloaded free from my website - http://www.bushgrafts.com and the printable transcription is on my DVD -(details on my website)

  • This is a true gift of music and talent. Thank you. jay

  • I just wanted to tell you that I am a guitar player and my best Jazz tunes are being learned from you. Your great talent not only teaches piano players, I 'm sure there are lots of happy pupils ( different instruments) all over the world learning from you.

    Thanks a lot!

    Regards from Mexico,

    Rene

  • love it! Right channel or not! LOL

  • i like how you always have little explanations of the really cool parts

  • Nice. Almost teaches you how to play.

  • I'm loving your ideas on this

  • once again great video post. thanks

  • Wow! I'm always amazed at how well you use dynamics sort of intertwined with anticipations and other rhythmic tricks that make your music swing so delightfully. This tune also shows what a talented bass player you are. One of my favorite of your tunes. I'm learning a lot from you. Makes me want to dance. Thanks ...
