one of my most favorite songs from my favorite all time artist.this mix is from a tape i made back in 1989-91 using separate turn tables for left and right from the original rainbow capitol album (you can hear some pops).varying the speed of one very slightly, allowing it to pass /lag the other,a..in stereo , you get as tickle effect in your head.b...in mono you get a pan type effect.also mixed to hear more of the drums by making a mono mixdown of each stereo track then feeding them back together with two reel to reel tape decks in to a third stereo tape deck again, varing the speed of one side for the tickled effect (youtube only has mono audio)and still keeping the separation of left right.i ran across this by accident when i was a kid trying to make a stereo recording from thier mono records by delaying one side for echo using a tape for one channel and the turn table for the other feeding in to a stereo tape deck (long before cds)i was like around 12 or 13when i started messing with that stuff using tag sale equipment. got better as i got older a lot of fun. this one with the famous "i burry paul"-or "cranberry sauce" at the end
that process with the 2 turntables was called "phasing" in the 60`s. Sometimes radio DJ`s would do that with some of the more progressive music
