F-18 Hornet carrier takeoff with fly by. We are standing on the carrier deck of the USS Ronald Reagan off the coast of California during the Friends and Family Day flight ops demo. This was seriously LOUD!

  • I was there. It was awesome. They also did a hypersonic flyby that was unreal.

  • Yeah - the pilot got the vapor cone to appear right in front of us as he approached the sound barrier. Cool.

  • @OminesDragon hahaha no problem. Someday I hope to be an F/A-18F pilot :)

  • @Legendary588 Oh well, thank you for telling me. :D

  • @OminesDragon They use a steam catapult that the plane attaches to. It goes from 0 to 180 knots in a matter of 200 feet.

  • It takes off fast because it has a catapult under the landing gear. I don't know if it called a catapult, but there is a mecahnism that shoots it forward

  • Any 1 else wonder how the fuck those machines accelarate so fast,

I mean, It goes from [0] to [70]

    ON THE GROUND

  • Yeah well whatever, I saw it too and it was definately hydroponic.
