If he wanted to die so bad, why take the girl with him? He should have just gone out there alone and not taken her with him. He was a kook. No offense to a dead guy, but I watched this and laughed at him. He was way out there.

If you watched the diary series you would know about "oldie" a new bear that had entered his camp where he studied and such. He was old and unfamiliar. Along with that, the LAST day of his LAST expedition, he brings his girlfriend. To me, he would still be alive to this day, had he not brought her along.

@MrSantaClaws1001 His death certainly wasn't heroic. Would you say I was heroic if i went swimming with bullsharks everyday, crying about how they are compassionate creatures that need to be loved? Would it be heroic of me to try to go snuggle with hungry lions in the african plains? I think you'd say I was getting what was coming to me, just like Treadwell did. But I agree that his death was poetic, poetic in an ironic way, where the "hero" dies at the hand of what he was trying to protect.

He was a great naturalist and biologist. He died doing what he loved; you will probably die on the sidewalk, or in a cheap hospital, or driving in traffic. I think his is a more heroic and poetic death.

This documentary doesn't do Timothy Treadwell justice. The Grizzly Man Diaries (2008) illustrate the work that Treadwell was doing much better, in my opinion, and also show that he had a genuine love for wildlife and that he wasn't deluded, or disrespecting their power. Not that I agree with his behavior at all, but everyone is so quick to hate him because they think he's crazy.
