They don't make 'em like this anymore - well sometimes The New Pornographers do. Let's Active - one of the most underrated bands of all time xx

meghahertz is right..that riff at 4:32 is higher then a Georgia Pine. That $#!t hits hard. Not too shabby!

What great days and great music! Before the advent of mass internet, when college radio and MTV was an esoteric window into the subculture. I lived in the South in the 80s and there were so many great regional bands on the college radio stations. It was fun, pure fun, before the age of 90s irony set in (Maybe I just sound like an old fogey, but I feel it that way). The drummer for Let's Active then was Eric Marshall. I wonder what he's doing now..........

I can think of songs with hooks as great as the chorus here but I can't think of a song that bests it.

Considering how much legend he was - produced R.E.M., the db's, Connells; created Let's Active; influenced bands and songs (see "Left of the Dial" by Westerberg) - I can see where it was grating on him. He deserved a lot more than just 'producer' to his credits.

Living in an old farmhouse somewhere outside Winston-Salem NC. He released a solo album not too long ago entitled "Dynamico". He also records songs with his wife, Shalini Chattergee, and they play under the band names Shalini and The Fiendish Minstrels.
