@irresistablejewel: reality is there isn't a consensus, like in most issues there are two sides and a bouncy or arguments trying to probe the others are wrong. I'm not saying these devices are reliable, but it is only just to present both sides of the story and not just the opponent's. Most of tv is manipulated-- show. But there must be a basis as for why polygraphs are sometimes used/ordered by law enforcers and courts. Thanks for commenting!

Polygraphy has little credibility among scientists.

Several countermeasures designed to pass polygraph tests have been described.

The National Association of Sciences found that the majority of polygraph research was "Unreliable, Unscientific and Biased.
