This is the opening theme from the 1950's drama, Mystery Theatre. This particular episode is from the Mark Saber series, and is titled The Case Of The Hair Of The Dog. It is available on TV Crime & Detective Shows Vol 2 at HoughsVideos.50Megs.Com
The previous season, J. Donald Wilson had been producer/director of Edwin Fadiman's "THE NEW ADVENTURES OF NERO WOLFE", starring Sydney Greenstreet, on NBC radio's 1950-'51 schedule. The closing announcer is Verne Smith, whose voice was also heard on THE ADVENTURES OF OZZIE & HARRIET" and radio's "OUR MISS BROOKS" [for sponsor Colgate-Palmolive].
Interesting note: Three Stooges leading lady Christine McIntyre appears in this episode. She would later marry the show's producer, J. Donald Wilson. They eventually retired from show business and went into real estate.
This version {"MYSTERY THEATER"} was supervised and filmed by Roland Reed {"MY LITTLE MARGIE", "TROUBLE WITH FATHER", "ROCKY JONES, SPACE RANGER", etc.}, at Hal Roach Studios.
This is the first version of the police detective Mark Saber, which ran from 1951 to 1954. Another version was filmed in England, and due to the lead role taken over by real-life WWII paraplegic Donald Gray, Saber was changed to a one-armed police cop.

The one that was filmed in England starring Donald Gray (1955-'57) is better known by its syndicated title, "DETECTIVE'S DIARY"...
