thats a pretty truck and my dad has a 81 ford ranger 150 with a 302 in it and he gets it up to around 8,000-10,000RPMs and he's never blown the truck up but its not in as nice of shape as yours its all dented and scratched

@mudfreak79, oh those DOVE-C's are good stock heads. thanks, im plannin on runnin the 268h or 274 cam in my build which was probably about equivelant to what you had here. Seams like a nice motor your runnin now

wow can't believe 5800 was enough to bend a valve on that thing. I was turnin 6000 the other day in my 89 f250 on 38's with a stock 5.8 in the mud, but hey, i can run it how i want... i got a new 351 in the works. What heads were ya runnin at this time? the TFS? I just got some cast world products for my build, and also what cam were ya runnin, int. exh. dur. LSA?

@123ewq I was running cast DOVE-C heads, with a mid range Xtreme hyd 4x4 cam from comp, cant remember the nubers on it. My 351W I had before this would sit at 6000 all day with no issues, this engine just needed some tweaking before it came around. I now run a solid roller cam, so no valve issues at all to 7000rpm

@discocreator76 You need to listen closer to it then, everyone else can hear the valve go out (at 5800rpm) which still is not high rpm but crappy hydrualic lifters will do that to ya.
