Orff All-City Concert

Over 300 students from 70 Memphis city schools join together to perform at The Cannon Center Thursday evening. The selected students will sing, dance and play musical instruments in their show, "Mountain Echoes."

I love how they didn't mention the audience's response to the performance. I've had to sit through a variety of Orff performances, and, although I recognize its value as an educational tool/exercise, to sit through an Orff performance is a condemnation that should be reserved for only the deepest circles of hell. If someone isn't laughing by the end of it, its only because they've knawed the flesh from their left leg, for lack of a better analogy.

That is pretty amazing.  I am in awe that Tennessee promotes Orff so much. I have a friend that teaches somewhere in that state, and she said that they pay to have music teachers certified, I think. That would be an awesome place to work.
