Respond to this video...There is not a place you can touch me or a way you can strike me that I do not have an effective and extremely destructive defense for. Yes this even goes for the ground. What people tend to forget is that Hapkido is an art that stems from DRAJJ and one of the founders first students and one of our biggest influences back in the day was a judo player and judo. Yes you will have bad HKD schools out there.
Respond to this video...To do so is the mark of an ignorant trainer. Comments such as yours show one thing for sure. There are people out there who believe in better arts and not better martial artists.
And to respond to your post specifically. In all actuality, Hapkido as taught and practiced by a properly trained hapkidoist is actually a perfect art for combat. In reality it is a modern martial art that was designed for combat.
Respond to this video...Hapkido has kept me alive in real life, life and death situations. Not some competition.
Hapkido's only true problem is the same all arts over, BJJ included. Poor training and/ or poor instructor knowledge.
I tell you what, I get so tired of uneducated and biased opinions from people who have never trained in an art to any serious degree. And training for a year or so is not serious enough for any art. I would never make an uneducated remark on another art.
@bjjjordan Have you ever trained at any length in Hapkido or are you just making a biased and uneducated opinion? I have. I hold a 5th Dan in Hapkido, have trained extensively in 8 other arts and have used my training while serving in the military, law enforcement, fugitive recovery and a 15 year on again off again stint as a professional bouncer. And I have trained in BJJ and Judo. So I have first hand experience on what does truly work and what doesn't.
Too many people practise hapkido as some kind of aikido, or do not spar, or do any kind of contact drills. damn I get upset when i see those practitioners..
