@MythicalFlop correction: BLACK people think its racist
-
@AlphaRocketX How is it shown that they love it? The only other major black characters we see are Toby and the fat woman. The workers we see on the road are just singing as they go up and down. Even during slavery the slaves would have their own songs and stories.
Would you rather every black character in this move be hateful and mean-spirited to everyone?

I think people forget that the stories of Br'er Rabbit and Uncle Remus are NOT created by Disney. These are folk tales told by slaves to other slaves in the early 1800s.
Yes. Slavery is horrible. But these stories are as much a part of American culture and folklore as Paul Bunyan or Johnny Appleseed. Song of the South may be considered racist now days, but it is one of the best adaptations of these folk stories, and I heartily enjoy my laserdisc copy!

@Tarwater03 Basically what I mean is, even though they're not called slaves, they clearly work in on a plantation for white people, and the blacks in the movie are portrayed as loving plantation life, which was not the case.
-
Actually, the setting of the film and stories is during the Reconstruction era. So, there are no slaves. It's after the Civil War. So... not sure what you mean? I'm a little confused.
-
@Tarwater03 Even though Uncle Remus is a nice character, the real racist part is the depiction of the cartoon animals, and portraying black people as happy while they work as slaves on a plantation. It's the context.

@MythicalFlop It's not racist! I love this movie, I have it on VHS. I'm from the UK, they released it here.
-
Because being friendly and wishing others well is always the racist thing to do!
-
This is NOT racist. The least they could do is use the Brer Rabbit in another movie.
Thank goodness we still have Splash Mountain and these clips on YouTube.
how come they wont release this movie??

was this in NTSC speed? Or PAL speed?
cause PAL speed is OK, but I like the normal NTSC speed a bit better.

@hemanshera777 I'm not sure, I think it's NTSC. I could put it at 60 fps if you want, though I'm not sure youtube can handle that.
