  • Nice vid & nice kit mate. I have a Sirio 827, it lasted about 8 years until the wind finally took off the top 3 sections last year. Fantastic radiator for both dx groundwave work and skip dx. Got a 3 el beam in the loft, still in its box, never used for 4 years! so might put that up to replace the vertical. QTH is outside of Inverness (on high ground) & worked a station at Gorebridge - was using a touch more than 4w though! Am going to go for the FT857 or FT817 - if Yaesu ever ship them.

  • Hi mate,

when did you get into Gorebridge? That is great going, some nice short skip, i live just on the road to Dalkeith but in the outskirts so not far off!

yeah the FT-817 is nice radio, the next one i would like to have is the 897D or the 857D, but i don't see the chance of that when the prices keep rising!

What is your handle mate? Next time i hear a strange voice on the band i will call back, would be great to have a chat!

    Cheers Mate

  • Identical ATU to mine, bought 18 years ago and still in daily use! Really nice tuners for the price. Those little rigs look like great fun. Enjoy your qrp. 73

  • Thank You, The ATU is fantastic, picked mine up on ebay and it does a great job!

    Cheers

  • Hi very good friend the radio but what can be heard trading bands? either radio nederland, China International, NHK Japan in the hf bands, goodbye.

  • 27.555 MHz..... LOL!

    Nice setup dude!

  • Nice video , I love the style of that radio

  • Hi Robin, great video, not long passed my foundation course, I would say m3 but now the call signs start m6, great radio I have brought a ft-840 after seeing a fellow hams set up, but have not had chance to use it yet , my second choice would have been the 817 I had been slightly put off by the 5watt output and thought ten would be needed, as your video shows that is not always the case, I am running the a99 antenna not sure how the built in tuner in the 840 will handle that told 20m is ok 73

  • about £70 but shop around and see if you can get i cheaper

  • I agree.

How much you pick that up 4?
