"Gambit" was designed and built by 3 junior level mechanical engineering students at California State University Fresno. The project fulfilled the requirements for a 1 unit mechatronics course. Although we went over our intended budget and spent more time than we needed to, we ended up with a very successful project that were happy with. From conception to final demonstration it took us exactly 2 months to conceive, design, and build "Gambit." Utilizing several modules from Parallax such as Basic Stamps, an LCD screen, Motor Controller, Servos, an RF Receiver and Transmitter and more we built a successfully working automatic interactive poker table. Given more time and money we would have added functionality for it to flip house cards, offer more game types, keep track of bets, and more. This is a prototype/beta version, meaning much of the annoyances such as noise and dealing bugs would be eliminated if we were to put it into production.
