Really interesting to see this done stage by stage up close. Ray Mears did a short piece about using thorns as hooks but this was a far more in depth look at how it all comes together and works. Cheers for sharing your knowledge! ~PG~

Awesome lures...thorn lure seems perfect for trout. I wondered about the strength and reliability of the grapevine stays, but I must admit, it is pretty tough stuff as long as it's not too dry or old. Just so long as I have my glasses with me to be able to see to craft such little stuff!

How is this hook supposed to withstand a fish mouth? It would seem the grape element or the hook would break as soon as a fish hit occurs?
