  • people... read the description, or better yet listen to it....that's not wes playing. it may be his arrangement of the tune, but you can tell this isn't him playing right off the bat. the feel and tone are not wes, nor is the organ (computer?) comping whole notes something wes would play over. i mean no offense to whoever it is that's playing, but i just think it's funny that people see wes's name and immediately start gushing, even when the playing is solid but not spectacular like wes.

  • @mtobrien89 Thank you. I Though the description made it clear but eh.

This playing is definitly solid and great but yes wes was out of this world..

  • beautiful interpretation. wes' soul was in each cord he played

  • @letsrunbike Like I said in the description, it's an interpretation of I dont know who, so it's a cover, I just dont know the guitarist. I got this track from my teachers also a minus one to play on it

  • @diabolojo So what does Wes Montgomery have to do with it? I'm fairly sure it is him anyway

  • @17rph93 It's his version, that what it has to do. Im not sure if its him, im sure its his version though.

  • I've never been a jazz fan, but this song is the kind of jazz i like.

  • This post is A plain BS has nothing to do with Wes with bunch of mediocre players playing on it to create such a boring track under Wes's caption, and I think it's a plain sin to make such a stupid post!

  • and i'm pretty sure it's pete callard on guitar. british guitar player. great phrasing, time and sensibility

  • i know where this comes from

it was issued years ago (i'm guessing sometime between 2003 and 2006) on guitar techniques magazine. it's a note for note reproduction of the actual recording. it had the transcription of the whole thing with tab. there was also a backing track without guitar. i'm sure i can send find it and send it if you PM me.

wes' version is probably the best i've ever heard of this tune. it's a great tune to learn and practice.

    rip mr. montgomery

  • il pezzo e' di un italoamericano HENRY MANCINI e qui suona WES...terry

  • This doesn't have Wes's vibe. Nice though!

  • It might be Wes, or might be not. But it's so beautiful, I admit. Kinda like this cover!

  • Album "Boss Guitar: Wes Montgomery" Riverside April 22, 1963

    Wes Montgomery - guitar

    Mel Rhyne - organ

    Jimmy Cobb - drums

this guitar player in not playing with his thumb and he has a very nice touch but clearly he is not Wes. He is playing (not improvising) NOTE BY NOTE the same exact improvisation Wes did on that recording, on that April 22 1963, and that day only. One of his perfect solos. And shame on the ones that can't recognize a 1963 recording from a modern sequencing!

  • @Kaihuna NO it is not, man... I have it on vinyl too. open your ears.

  • @diabolojo

You know,I love Wes, we all do, and I love this piece of music and in the first parts I hear a pick being used and I dont hear the melting fluency that is Wes.

I dont think this is Wes but I am real glad it isnt because it shows there are other guitarists out there who put me under a spell.

I really like this a lot.
