Gautama Buddha was born in 563 B.C. and lived in northern India. The name of Buddha means enlightened one. Among the Buddhas teachings are the four Noble Truths and the eight fold path. His birth day the day of Vesak, is a national holiday in parts of Asia.
An edict announced by the Afghanistan militia's supreme leader, Mulla Mohammad Omar, calling for the destruction of all statues in line with "Islamic" laws, has caused shock around the world. The two massive Bamiyan Buddhas, carved into a sandstone cliff near the provincial capital in central Afghanistan, stand 50 meters (165 feet) and 34.5 meters (114 feet) tall and were built around the second century.
The militiamen started wrecking the almost 2,000-year-old Buddhist masterpieces in the central province of Bamiyan, including the world's tallest standing Buddha measuring 50 meters (165 feet), after sunrise.

  • In the name of religion the Afghan militants have done a great sin to the Islamic religion as well as to Gautama Budda by destroying his statues. They may not having belief on ideal worship but they should not hurt others sentiments. This was told by me in my speeches.

  • oh god this guys voice............lol

  • grief not.if things in this world, including buddha statues should not perish,be it through nature or by man, then the dharma of the buddha isn't true.

  • I don't understand your language, but I believe you are angry about something.

From the words I do understand (there are few), I believe as a Buddhist, you are expressing certain realities that are generaly ignored about the realities of Afghanistan and the war that has gone on there.

    I am a western Buddhist.

Again, I don't understand your language.

I simply write this in the hope it may help you and, also, that we may perhaps communicate.
