1. The Westminster Larger Catechism Q172 says it is not sinful for a doubter to take the Lord's Supper.
2. Therefore, the LC teaches that doubting is not sinful.
3. Anything not sinful is a good work.
4. Therefore, the LC teaches that doubting is a good work.

Hope the above logic clarifies why I think Presbyterians say Doubting is a good work.

Westminster Larger Catechism
Q172: May one who doubts of his being in Christ, or of his due preparation, come to the Lord's Supper?
A172: ....he may and ought to come to the Lord's Supper

What do you think of A172 of the Westminster Larger Catechism? Perhaps, you consider it to be true. If so, it may surprise you to learn that the teaching of A172 logically leads to a form of rank Antinomianism. Firstly, if someone can take the Lord's Supper, doubting, then it follows that someone can pray, doubting; worship, doubting; preach, doubting; love God, whilst doubting; and repent, whilst doubting at the same time, the promises of God. In fact, the Presbyterian must say that all of these acts of doubting, are actually good works. Since A172 affirms that it is not sinful to eat and drink doubting, then in effect, the Westminster Devils affirmed that God is pleased with someone doubting His promises and calling Him a liar. A172 asserts that it is lawful to perform one Christian duty, whilst doubting.

Any Presbyterian who wishes to be consistent, should recognize that according to their teaching, it must be lawful to perform ALL Christian duties whilst doubting (since God's standards are equal at all times, so that, if someone can perform one good work doubting, then ALL good works can be performed doubting, leading to the conclusion that doubt is actually the source of good works!). Could the pope of Rome have said more? "Ignorance is the mother of devotion"? Again, we see that the whore of Rome and her so-called "Reformed" children are like mathematical asymptotes that -- although never meeting -- draw closer and closer. True believers, on the other hand, have full assurance of God's love for them, for they "have known and believed the love which God has to us" (1 John 4:16).

  • Jesus says if you have the faith of A MUSTARD SEED...

The rest could be doubt. If someone has enough faith to go to church and desire Christ in the Lord's Supper rather than staying in bed all morning. That's good enough for me.

  • I do not want to sound rude. Honestly, but after reviewing some of what you have said: You seem to love hearing yourself talk.

    Examine yourself.

  • You confuse doubt with unbelief, you are mistaken.

  • Please read the two articles on osas/calvinism herewww.ipertisalithias.gr/page5.htmland pass it on. May God keep you in His truth.

  • The Presbyterian church should be called the Bastardterian church or the Paganterian church. Do not chug down the Kool-Aid of the Presbyterians.

  • The Presbyterians are bastards without chastisement according to Hebrews 12:8.

  • This fellow does not understand the Westminster standards; they do not teach that doubting is a good work. They simply summarize what the Scriptures teach and what we know to be true experientially; true Christians can and do struggle with assurance. We are always to be examining ourselves to see if we are in the faith. If we doubt, we're not to be content to be in doubt, but are to pursue growth in grace and faith by running to Christ and His Word that we might be assured we belong to Him.

  • This sounds like the "sin of presumption" in Roman Catholicism.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1 John 5:13 in the King James Bible).

  • Paul tells us in one of his letters to Corinth to examine ourselves, whether or not we be in the faith. That message was given to the WHOLE church, not jsut the unbelievers.By doubting your salvation, you are not doubting Christ, you are doubting yourself, wether or not you truley repented.

  • and these secret sins of andrew would be what? Sounds to me like you are claiming to be all-knowing, since you seem to have some insight as to the secret sins of men.

  • Andrew you are not a servant of God. You are of the Anti-Christ spirit. You have been given over to depravity and a reprobate mind because you refused to repent of secret sins and now you are a seething cauldron of condemnable corruption. Beware Children of God of the False prophets like Andrew that seek to deceive the very elect. Your message is not born of the Spirit of Christ it is born of the Anti-Christ. I pray you repent of your damnable heresy.
