I appeared in this film. I am the blond boy with the glasses. This was ALOT of fun to make! I had never seen it until YouTube! I have a 16mm film reel of it that I'd love to get transferred to digital. The film is more than 30 years old and has never been played. I wonder if it needs to be treated somehow before being played through a machine so as not to damage it?

Snuffy was originally created for a 5 city tour in the U.S. I know, because I moved it with my griend Don Frantz to each city back in the mid-70s. I also built a model of Snuffy that did exactly the same things that appeared on Captain Kangaroo and Wonderama at that time. It was a remote control model that was built by me and another good friend Doug Beswick. Anyone knowing where the model is, can clear their conscious and get it back to mark.

Wow that is interesting. I remember watching these PSA's during the day as a kid on channel 56 in Boston. I assume you are talking about Jackson Memorial in Miami? My mom was born there!

The guy that invented Snuffy is a retired firefighter and works at Epcot in Orlando now. Snuffy was dedicated and is on display at Jackson Memorial Hospital. :)

There was also a half-hour fire safety special with Snuffy & those same kids. The dixieland music you hear in the background in this PSA had lyrics sung (or more appropriately yelled) by the kids, the song's title was "Snuffy's Fire Brigade"

There was a riot in my first grade class when the teacher made a mistake, said we were going to see a film with Snoopy and this played. Not even the janitor could restore order ;-)
