Hypocrisy & The Black Church

When you snapped your finger, it took me back to my days in the Black Baptist church where I remember that our choir director was also homosexual. LOL. In my opinion, church members = more money in the eyes of a lot of these pastors. Money is the ultimate goal to a lot of these false preachers.

Gurl, I LOVE YOU! You are so right and adorable at the same time! Big hugs from Spain!

Why would anyone really care about Black folks sitting in a church pew working out painfully, stubbornly, all of the reactionary theology that was sold to them to keep them silent in the first place? This "secular Jesus" that modern America invented isn't about living well, it's an alibi. You can attack your family, loved ones, etc., for primacy among them. What else would it be, considering the source? Whether we be black; white, gay, straight, whatever, A hustle is a hustle. Got game?

I like you, girl! I like you! Keep on preachin'! :)

You're bang on! As you say he preaches its a sin until he can make money out of it. You said he preaches against gays to give a good sermon & unfortunately thats because hate in certain circumstances is received well. The congregation need a release & they feel vindicated as 1 person in the bible said that gays are a sin. Its an easy target as they don't hate on people who shop on the sabbath or women who wear trousers/jeans (mens clothing) also in the bible. Its easier to hate someone else.

Interesting... but I gotta confess... the music was distracting. I had a real problem trying to concentrate on what you were saying. I do not if it has anything to do with the fact that I am a musician and think about music most of the time. LOL. Just saying.

@BiGMANJOE32 So, you gonna pick & choose what's right in the Bible? Okay, you're on you own...

Gurl you better say it again!
Blacks do not have the monopoly on hypocrisy in the church. It's everyone and everywhere. Plus, I think the ones that judge the most, have the most issues themselves.

@1norville--I agree. I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with judging though. If you're judging someone's behavior and deciding whether it's something you want for you, I think it can be quite beneficial. I think the problem comes when we use church or the Bible to judge and condemn people when, if folks knew the truth about the lives WE live, they'd go running for the hills. We're all on a journey and most of us have "issues" or challenges that we're trying to overcome.

It's even worse than the points that you've made. There are pastors boning several women of the congregation, getting some of them pregnant. Some of them are on the DL themselves. They are lying, drinking, beating their wife, kids, etc., and men in the black conscious community are taking over the helm but are doing the same damn things behind their 'self-righteous' facade! I have more respect for an openly gay, bi, tri person than these weak ass broke uncle tom niggas, they are true parasites!

@Stardomchild--I agree. It's so much easier to deal with someone that's open about their situation, right out the gate. It says a lot about their character. In my opinion, it also speaks to the way they deal with people in general. I think religion is used as a shield. It allows people to live by one set of rules, while having a completely different set, by which they judge others.
