Train wreck in Holland Ohio in 1956. Almost the entire train derailed leaving cars scattered for 3/4 of a mile.
Does anybody remember this?

  • Yes, I worked for a feed company then, and were expecting a tank car of molasses. There was molasses everywhere 2 to 3 inches deep. Never saw so many bees. The bad thing is that I come from a railroading family and get incensed when a train wrecks. Loss of life, money to the railroads and to top it off this train had reefers. Lots of food stuffs were lost.

  • A local grocery chain bought most of the meat , I heard for a $1000 a car. That was a lot of money back then. I bought a new 55 Olds hardtop for $3, 100 out the door.

  • wow most footage this old comes in black and white but this one is in color. Cool

  • I used an 8mm Keystone camera with color film. I used B/W one time to practice when I bought the camera.

  • Sundevillhp29. Go fuck off. I live in Ohio and lots of good stuff happens here. We have the best railroad system in the country period. No where do you find the vast amount of rail service we have here. I get so sick of fuck faces talking shit about Ohio or our great country. If you dont like our COUNTRY than get the hell out and take the muslims with you...................

  • Great song choice! Johnny Cash is perfect for this video.

Do you live in the Glass Blowing store? Was that the General Store? It was a hardware store all of my life--before now.
