Unmanned or manned gliding kites are paragliders. Sport manned paragliders are gliding kites. A kite consists of wing, tether, and a part that resists the tug of the wing. The resistive part could be human hand, a stake in the ground, a payload falling through the atmosphere, a horse, a boat; the tether is coupled to the necessary resistive part. A wing alone cannot be a kite, though by default language "kite" is sometimes applied to the wing only, but such does not fulfill the mechanical wholeness of what a kite is; a wing along does not form a kite; the wing must be tethered to a resistive system or part. A paraglider manned or unmanned has the resistive part being attracted by gravity during fall. Sport paragliders are with a resistive part that consists of harness, pilot body, stuff, and instruments. Any wing may be explored for paragliders; the wing may be fully limp or fully solid or something between; and a paraglider may have one or more wings. The set of tethers may be one or many.
