Easy with this (But first: if you know how to get Marksmanship or Unlucky to Lose Arcade Awards, please!!! leave a comment!!! & I'll do a video. Thanks!) controller setup & the fire extinguisher trick...
Platinum is 35000.
NOTE 1: Silent Thunder did the 4 million run, it is a hilarious video and an awesome feat of perseverance, persistence, and dedication (and a great Pink Floyd tune, I might add):

Here is his strategy guide for those who want more than just Platinum:

(Thanks to Megadestructor9 for the link, %27 is code for apostrophe, so no worries about a fishy URL - I checked it & it is good.)
NOTE 2: I did not go to Platinum on this run, it was a very tiring week and late when I did this, plus it is a boring video by the time I run out of commentary & I did not want to waste my time or yours. Platinum is 35000, I will do a Plat. run vid if anyone REALLY wants to see it (which I doubt).
Controller Configuration: Options|Controls|Custom
Set L2 to Next Weapon
Set R3 to Prev. Weapon
Crouch on Circle (or Square, L3, r/l d-pad)
Now you can cycle weapons without taking your thumb off of the joystick, and reload the shotgun very quickly - just hit L2/R3 and it is full again.
Thanks to Megadestructor9 for the tip - he plays Xbox but gave me the idea describing his controller limitations. 2 shoulder buttons & no R3/L3 - I would get a converter cable if I had an Xbox so I could use the Dual Shock controller on it, personally. I always thought the Xbox controller was too bulky & shaped wrong anyway. Typical Microsoft - ask a customer? Ask a focus group? Ask anyone? What for? They did make an American console though so good job on that.
Cool :D
