*STEREO*. You can already see Rick Nelson & band performing this on YT, but here's the STEREO version of "It's Up To You". Got to #22 in the UK in early 1963.

  • Hey all, just thought I'd share my memories of Ricky Nelson's music. I'm 21, so it's not like I was around then, but my dad (who would be 59 now) had a CD of his greatest hits. I loved listening to his music. (still do) I was in middle school I think by that time. I asked my dad about who he was and he told me a little bit about him, then he got me watching Ozzie & Harriet with him. I consider myself a die-hard Beatles fan, but that also means that I love great music. :)

  • @JohnPaulSaylor Thanks - I can only hope my teenage children end up as fans!

  • Billy j. kramer [ his real name is aston ]did a version ok but not as good

  • @spacepatrolman As you say, just an 'okay' version.

  • Today is May 8th.....Happy Birthday Ricky !

  • What is it about this music which touches so deeply? The simple romantic melodies, and innoncent sensuality may help explain it to a degree. I am now 48 and was only a toddler when this song was already a few years old, but can still remember it playing on the car radio in the mid-60's. And now in mature adulthood it evokes such powerful images. Was there a moment in the past 45-5o years when we passed a musical point of no return?

  • This is the song sung by a man named Charles Hall who in the US Air Force during the 1960's and stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.

He dealt with with Tall White (aliens from outer space who use Nellis as a way station). They have an intimidating manner which would threaten others. How Charles would cope is singing this song to himself and "pray a lot" (his words).

  • From me to Ya "C" ,-)

The seal from ya know where

  • @JohnPaulSaylor .John Paul you have restored my faith in the future of music. As long as there people like you who appreciate what great music was around in the early sixties

then this kind of music will live on.Thank you

  • @JohnPaulSaylor - Your dad is lucky to have you as a fan of Ricky Nelson. I have given some of

ny favorite records to my kids but they don't seem as interested as you do about your dads. Tell him

for me he is lucky dad! :-)

  • i like too ^^

  • interesting to point out how classy the artists of the 50's and 60's dressed; suit and tie. You would NEVER see Lady GaGa dress professionally, let alone be able to have the talent Ricky and the other artists back then had. A true shame.

  • i love this song:)
