736 & 726 Postwar Berkshires

The question was asked how many cars the 726 would pull so out of curiousity we hooked the 19 freight cars we usually run behind both of them. Both pulled the load easily with the heavier 2426W tender. The 726 slipped a little on take off on the Gargraves track. The consist is 5 MPC boxcars, 5 Postwar tankers, 1 Postwar hopper, 7 Modern hoppers and a MPC caboose.

I bought a 46 model smoke bulb 726 Berk not too long ago. I would love to restore it but it would be a job, but it would be worth it in the end.

well i when with the #736 plus its got magnatraction when the 726 dose not and the price i paid there was no way i could turn it down ready!!! i paid $225.00 shiped for the whole set its a postwar lionel set #2265ws from 1956 came with #736 a 2046w a #3424 a #6467 a #6430 a #3620 & a #6517 i only had to change the boiler front on the engine the door wouldnt close the clip was gone & pop in a chorme whistle on top get a light scoket & bulb for the caboose and then service everything not bad!!!!

Pulling around 19 cars, I have never tried that. The magna traction would help some as the earlier 726 did not have it.

My 726 runs great now it needed more oil and plus I have a KW transformer now. Sorry for that comment.

My 726 has that same growl I was told that I might need the armeture rewound.
