Stanford Jazz Residency 2008 Pearls Combo: Passion Dance

Pearls combo (directed by Rob Kohler) from Stanford Jazz Residency 2008 performs an arrangement of Passion Dance by McCoy Tyner. Jazz Residency is catered mostly towards adults and this group of young, talented musicians was a joy to play with. Rob was especially amazing, we all learned a lot from him in the span of only a week. I am the tenor solo; this is when I was 16. Now that I'm in college I don't play sax anymore but any video like this makes me miss it.

Ya Rob Kohler is a great guy. Played with him at the UO Jazz camp and he was my band teacher all four years at Oakhill High School. I think a year or two after he left though to pursue his own interests, which is better. He's not as great of a teacher as he is a pure player. I hope he gave you some good insights while he directed your group.
