  • You can't replace "military" with "blacks" because people can't choose the color of their skin, while in most decent countries you end up in the military only if you want to.

"Black" (or white, yellow, brown, tall, short, Italian, gay or hetero) is what people *are*. Blanket criticism of these groups if often (always?) racism.

On the other hand "military" (or politician, lawyer, Christian, Muslim, engineer or thief) is what people *do* or *say*. They can choose to be in these groups or not.

  • @bweazel without getting way to deep here, werent the vietnamese communists, and didnt they kill nearly 60,000 people? now of course a world war is a bigger threat than a few terrorists with boxcutters, i dont think anyone claims otherwise? the concern is with weapons of mass destruction since you dont need many planes or armies to inflict massive damage extremely quickly

  • the only reason i wanted to join the army is so I could kill somebody and I had atleast 2 confirmed and was under fire over 30 times. but that was vietnam. 67-68 25th infantry division.

  • Right fucking on. This is a message we need to hear more than ever these days!

  • awesome. homosexual or heterosexual. there are requirements to be a murderer? haha, it's so hilarious and right on.

bill hicks knew what was up. and still does ;)

  • I can't believe you'd say something like communism and terrorism, which have claimed little to no American lives around 6,000 or so probably in the last 60 years, comapred to Japan, who killed 2000+ just at Pearl Harbor, then around another 300,000 fighting the Pacific Theatre. You tell me which was a bigger threat. Terrorism, a small group of rag tags with bombs? Or a country of millions of people, with their own tanks, planes, bombs so on. You're blinded by modern propaganda. Wake up.

  • There was no South Korea until after we destroyed their country and declared a cease fire. It was Korea. And no, they were not our ally, but we did use them, just like we used the Vietnamese.

Can't really make all those weapons and bombs and planes and tanks and flamethrowers and not have someone to use them on. "Defense" makes up 25% of our national budget each year. Most likely was the same or more in Russia. It's all about money.

  • We were never threatened by the Soviets. It was all propaganda and it was all about money. That's it.

Riggghtt. We only "defend" these people because there is something that our oligarchs want from there. Oil, gold, land, a strategic position or ally that we'll toss to the side after we're done with. I bet you're one of those people that think we're defending Iraq from the evil terrorists. Haha.

Oh and we control the seas? Hmmm. Waste of money in my opinion, but hey, just my opinion.

  • south korea wasn't our allie?

  • We were threatened by the soviet union and are facing a large scale international terrorist threat. I would say that the spread of global communism threatened the united states more than the spread of the japanese empire. The military is not just a defense force it's the instrument of foriegn policy same as the police are the instrument of domestic. We have to defens alot of countries ourselves unfortunatley because they'd rather spend their money on other things plus we police the seas.

  • I don't see how it's a stereotype. We haven't been threatened by any country since the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. So in other words, we haven't had a need for defense in the last 67 years, but wow, we sure have fought alot of wars since then. So here's what he means, if you volunteer to serve in the military when there is no need for the military, you are a mercenary paid to serve the interests of the military industrial complex, NOT our country. There's really no other way around that.
