t is the 23rd Century. The Federation Starship U.S.S. Enterprise is on routine training maneuvers, and Admiral James T. Kirk seems resigned to the fact that this may well be the last space mission of his career. But Khan is back. Aided by his exiled band of genetic supermen, Khan--brilliant renegade of 20th Century Earth--has raided Space Station Regula One, stolen a top secret device called Project Genesis, wrested control of another Federation starship, and now schemes to set a most deadly trap for his old enemy Kirk . . . with the threat of a universal Armageddon!
Boy, for a second I thought I saw the Death Star at 1:34

This is the best "space opera" ever made.

Kirk's true love was The Enterprise. (And I suppose his second true (chaste) love was Spock.)

I enjoyed this movie, from understanding the arrogance of a single minded genesis who doesn't understand the dynamic multicultural mind of his enemy. The orgin of the Enterpise crew for me is significant as characters with their own persona, however as a collective team they prove that teamwork outside of a singleminded gensis is possible and dynamicly interesting in the ever change cycle of life as per their duty evolves. Thus the entire plot reflects a true sense of orgin or essence.
