5 minutes from the acclaimed film:
Praying In Her Own Voice directed by Yael Katzir and produced by Dan Katzir and Ravit Markus.

This powerful film documents the courageous struggle of the famed "Women of the wall" movement. This group has spearheaded the battle for female equality in the religious world. Their main focus has been on the Wailing Wall - the holiest site for Jews where orthodox, conservative and reform women are not allowed to gather and pray. For the past decade they have challenged the government of Israel and the entire Jewish world by raising a lot of media attention both through colorful protests and by their unstoppable legal battle -- which has ended several times at the Israeli Supreme Court which made some very controversial rulings.

The story of the Women of the Wall is a test case for the deprived status of women in Israeli public life. The film is an outcry protesting religious coercion and the violent silencing of women. It's a film that raises many questions about the battle of the sexes within the religious Jewish world.

  • As a proud Egalitarian orthodox man in canada, I send a Message of love, respect and Blessing to my Righteous sisters in Ha'aretz who are serving Hashem with all there Heart, Soul and Being! Kol Ha Kavod! as we read in the Mishnah, if it was not for the sake of the Righteous women of Israel we would not have been saved! Rafstergrant, need I remind you that Hillel was involved in a debate weather women are required to say the B'racha before putting on Tzitzyot in the morning?! You're an Idiot!!

  • If these women would stop their silly envy of men they would realize the men really aren't treated so well and forcing them to wear a skullcap and pray 3 times a day which are only custom's and if not they persecute the men. In stead they want to imitate the men and of course they don't wear it all the time like the men do. SO this is just classic envy behavior which leads to irrational behavior which is why it is one of the 10 commandments.

  • Kol Isha is a custom. This is just silly though. These women are really ruled by their most base envy of men. I really hope these women are not married or have children as they will clearly abuse their son's and husbands and also mistreat their girls that should try to focus on doing everything a boy can do. Maybe these girls were raised by mothers like this and they are continuing the cycle. It if funny they use Rabbi's when it fits their man hating agenda.

  • God ? Who's that guy ?

  • well women are NOT commended to wear Tallis or Tefillin. it is a Man's mitzvah

  • Why wear teffillin or talit? If you are reform the oral Torah is does not count. The knowledge we have of how to make tefilin is written in the oral torah namely the talmud. That same torah instructs us of what how woman should conduct herself in private or in public. When these women of the kotel tell you they come from a movement that has total direspect to the teachings of the torah (i.e not keeping kosher, performing same sex marrige and .....) one needs to question their intentions.

  • in the temple that stod on the other side of the wall do you think women made such a stink there too?

  • @MenechemShaul

First of all, I applaud your struggle. To name a few difficulties...How do you know how to make and wear tefillin without an Oral Law? How do you know to use a lunar or solar calendar to count months? When the Torah forbids work on the Sabbath, what is work? Circumcision? Tzitzis? How is anything done without an Oral Law? What is a Sukkah/Booth? How do we make the Sukkah? Without an oral explanation of the details, it is impossible to know what the Torah truly means.

  • @TheRealEmet TORAH IS TORAH, TORAH TEACHES NOT TO ADD OR TAKE AWAY FROM TORAH (D'VARIM 8), THE GEMARA ADDS TO TORAH!

  • @MenechemShaul

The gemara is not Torah? The prohibition of kol isha is absolutely Torah. Try Brachos 24a. Google "kol isha" and find koltorah dot com. I know many lapsed Orthodox Jews. They do not claim Reform or Conservative to be true. They just say "they are not holding on that level". Distorting the true tradition with pseudointellectual nonsense is merely intellectual dishonesty. Anyone that knows anything about Judaism knows Reform is Assimilatory nonsense for pseudointellectuals

  • @stars1836 Shame, shame, shame! They are not being like the men! Women are commanded to wear Tzitzit, there is even a debate about weather a woman needs to say the Brakha before putting on the arba kanfot or not! My sister you are deceived by men!
