Hello Im Nairisha Batada from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada and this is my entry for the who inspires you video essay contest sponsored by Tri-Cyclen and Lo.
The person that inspires me is The Aga Khan. He is the founder and chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network. One of the largest private development networks in the world, which work towards social, economic, and cultural development in Asia and Africa. His projects focus on the elimination of global poverty, advancement of the status of women, promotion of Islamic culture, art, architecture, and furthering pluralistic values in society.
He inspires me because he is a role model for millions and millions of people out there, he has taught us to build bridges between different communities and to accept diverse cultures, he voices that pluralism is the key to peace and development and that people to understand each other and to se difference as an opportunity rather than a threat.
He inspires me to follow my ethics and vales in order to become a better human being and to help not only my community but other communities in this diverse nation. Following his example we have proposed to start a club in our school to raise awareness and funds. We registered 80 students from our school and proposed the club which is in the finalizing process. Recently, I joined the World Partnership Walk teams Portfolio, it is one of the many projects run by the Aga Khan Development Network in order to increase awareness and raise funds to fight global poverty.
If I win this contest, a large portion of the money will go towards the world partnership walk so it can contribute to educating and housing people around the world.
Later on in my life I aspire to be an integral part of the Aga Khan Development Network and to help out will their goals to annihilate poverty.
If you would also like to be a part of the solution to global poverty join us on May 25th at Metro hall for the World Partnership walk.
