This is an honest review about the Novo 7 Basic. I am truly disappointed on the lack of transparency regarding this product. I will give you my honest opinion about this product and the stores that sell it.
Lag: During movies, games, and other apps, I haven't noticed any lag and the browser runs smoothly. The lag occurs when starting and exiting an application. Again, this is from my experience. I haven't played the heavy-duty games yet, like Spider-Man: Total Mayhem.
Memory: The tablet has 8gb of onboard memory. It has a micro sd card slot that, despite what you will read, will support up to a 32gb card, another example of these retailers not knowing their product.
Cost and Availability: The Novo 7 Basic runs anywhere from $120 and up. The Novo 7 Advanced runs from $160 and up. The devices have become elusive. It is rumored (may be confirmed) that the devices have been discontinued and are to be replaced by the Novo 7 Paladin (basic replacement) and the Novo 7 Elf (advanced replacement). The prices for the respective devices are reported to be similar to their predecessor.
My Recommendation: As my recommendation goes, I have to say "no go" on the basic. My main reason is a very small percent of the market apps actually works on the device. This is not the case with the Novo 7 Advanced. No Angry Birds, No Fruit Ninja, No Facebook, No Youtube. Everything worth having has to be obtained through forums and other avenues. You can find a Youtube an Angry Birds apk. I have not been able to find the official Facebook apk. Instead of Fruit Ninja, you have Fruit Slice, which surprisingly, isn't bad.
The device is muti-touch x5 but some "after-market" apps don't support the multi-touch. The device is made of plastic. The screen is made of a high grade plastic, much like the psp, so you will need a sceen protector.
I can't say this enough. The Novo 7 Basic is not a horrible tablet, I knew the specs for the Basic tablet and I chose the Advanced model, my frustration is with the large number of retailers that don't know what they are selling, marketing the Basic as the Advanced model and not taking ownership of their ignorance. Please continue to post your questions, comments and experiences regarding the Novo 7 line of products.
On amazon, I found a white novo 7 paladin. Is that same thing as the basic or not you think?

@gamedexterity The screen is reported to look better. Still, it runs that mips processor, So pretty much, other than the color,, it's the same tablet. That's from my understanding anyway.

@nmurdic Hmm, so do you have any recommendations for a tablet then? I'm looking for one that can at least do youtube well, and occasional web browsing and checking emails. I'm not looking to spend more than $160 if possible. Any suggestions welcomed, thanks.

@gamedexterity The novo 7 aurora, Novo 7 advanced 2, or the Novo 7 elf should be great tablets. If you want to run most of the android market apps, stay away from all MIPS cpu based tablets such as the Novo 7 paladin, and the Novo 7 basic. They should be in or just a bit over the $160 range.
