@Ideazonqa The motivation behind this video was not to manipulate people or to withhold any information, but to draw the British public's attention to a shameful episode in our colonial history which is almost totally forgotten. If I can encourage people to research for themselves the history of Britain in Palestine, then I am happy. I'm not in the game of massacre-counting or lining the Zionists up against the Arabs. I'm interested in Britain's part in the bloody debacle.

@NewFormOfSlavery That's absolutely ridiculous! (Someone had to say it.)

Agree. Zionism (for me) is the name of a political (and sometimes also religious) movement, not a dirty word for a historian. The British did indeed totally cock up! And both sides certainly suffered at the hands of the British colonial occupation. The sad thing is that many of the British administrators in Palestine at the time KNEW they were cocking up, but Whitehall insisted on atrocious policy decisions.

@davidcharlesisbusy : Firstly, Your video was well put together & you deserve credit for it. TBH, up until the last moments, I wasn't sure which side you were coming down on. But the conclusion was rushed and not justified by the points raised earlier. Also the omissions to which I referred did seem to be pretty much on 1 side.
What I would say to you is: Zionism isn't a dirty word, the British cocked-up. Both sides suffered. All parties need to look forward for their mutual prosperity.

@davidcharlesisbusy: Sure, but Balfour pre-dated 1922 and your video is based upon Balfour....

@davidcharlesisbusy : Didn't Al Husseni "admire Hitler, because he knows what to do with the Jews"?

arab (and later palastinian)
up to 5:30 most of what he sais is true. from there on it's pretty much a lie. the zionists took over??? they AGREED to resolution 181!!! they were happy to finally have a state!! it's thje arabs who ATTACKED the 1 day old country with 6(!) strong arab armies!!!! and even after that war, israel gave HUGGE parts of itself to jordin just to be fair to the arabs!! but they used that land to attack israel AGAIN!! which led to the 6 day war.
just thought ppl should knpw the truth

The Zionists were prepared to take over the running of a state. That's all I meant by 'started to take over' - take over the apparatus of state. And it's not a bad thing at all - if the Arabs had been more unified and more organised, then perhaps they would have been able to offer a stronger alternative.
Is that they only 'lie'? What about the 1m Palestinians made homeless? Or the hundreds of Palestinian villages destroyed? Are those lies as well?

And just to be clear: I end my history with the departure of the British - they left the country in a terrible state.
My position is against the British in this episode of history. The British failed both Arabs and Jews: the wars that broke out were a result of British colonial incompetence and arrogance. Very sad indeed for both peoples.
