For Science Week 1999 Steve Harrison worked with the Lion Salt Works to test different clay bodies with salt made from unrefined Cheshire brine. Steve threw the pots in his studio at Enfield, London and brought them, biscuit fired to the salt works for firing. We held three demonstration days, two for local ceramics students and one day open to the public. Using a ceramic fibre kiln the pts could be packed and fired between 9am and 5pm each day. The experiments were used to design a limited edition firing of Steve's pots which are sold to raise funds for the restoration of the Lion Salt Works.
