Near as I'm aware, the worst he can be accused of is being a member of the Hitler youth, which was mandatory for 13yo boys, and being drafted in the Army, and deserting. However his involvement in the Vatican cover up seems to be accurate.
I'm all for being critical of the the pope, but near as I'm aware, he wasn't important enough to commit war crimes except desertion. There are other issues that need be addressed.
