I remember a professional orchestra visiting my school in my early teens playing this, and I was totally overwhelmed by the power of this piece. Actually seeing it being played, watching each instrument contribute to the whole sound was an experience I will never forget. I remember watching the fingers of one clarinetist and thinking 'this is happening here and now'. Funny how I've just remembered that all these years later. :)

Well I dedicate this to Steve Podborski

  • Good stuff Paul, though, if I may...the images suggest you're playing it in C, it's actually pitched in D, isn't it? With that in mind, the middle section starting at 35 secs has the wrong chords underneath the correct melody...you stay in a tonic /dominant progression, but the first chord at 35 should be (sounding) G7 then D7, rather than D then A...before arriving at A at 44 & going back to the main theme...it would make all the difference. Best wishes, Muff.

  • @muff0770 I think when I started making these videos I imagined that most people would have a casual listen and that would be it. What I have since realised is that a lot of keyboard players watch my videos, and I am therefore more careful with the arrangements and avoid using the keyboard's transpose function. Without checking back to the original, I think you are probably right, the mid section is a tone too high - it is most noticeable where it joins back in to the main theme.

I replied to another thread of yours a while back...Sportsnight...but anyway...no, not a tone too high, just the wrong chords underneath! I'm a real pedant for such things, I'm sorry...that you've done so many arrangements is fantastic, & you're obviously a decent player...I shouldn't really moan so...

  • @muff0770 I really don't mind. It's interesting to have these discussions

  • Haha...Would you believe it!!!

Got the day off work and I'm down the end of the garden in my hiding place playing my old records...Just spun this one up and then thought I'd have a look on Youtube.

Bless my soul my favourite Pianist has done an Excellent cover...Nice one Paul!!!

  • I have the sheet music for this somewhere. I'm sure I've lost it though. Which is a shame - it's a fun song.

  • Amazing... Best thing I have seen on youtube for years...

  • OUTSTANDING! You are incredibly talented and the inspiration for those (like me) who have wanted to attempt keyboards/pianos/synths for years :)

That is an incredible piece of equipment, and you make that (very difficult) track look effortless!

Thankyou So SO very much for giving us keyboard wannabe's and good music appreciatives something so very very good

  • AMAZING, I HAVE WANTED TO BE ABLE TO PLAY THIS FOR YEARS, YOU HAVE INSPIRED ME TO LEARN THIS XX

  • Great, I love it!

Is it your own arrangement or can you tell me where I can get a copy of the sheet music for this arrangement? I'd love to have a stab at it.

  • I'd like to dedicate this to the late great David Vine - many a Sunday i listened to to describing the names of the unpronounceable european skiers - sadly missed
