Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu 2(?) Part 1

Well actually, I'm not sure. This game doesn't seem to have made up its mind about a title, as sometimes it's also referred to as "Murakasi's Elegy," but since I don't know Japanese I could be mistaken. Still, I like the latter title because the game really isn't that much like KD, and it's more of a tournament fighter based on Kunio Tachi No Banka.

Even though it's one of those demos of games that, alas, may never get finished, I think it's a pretty strong fighting game in its own right. I've broken my Kunio playthrough into two for length's sake. (I've gotten to the final boss but not beaten it.)

Strong points:
*Fast and fluid, like Kunio games should be.
*Sequel to an underappreciated Kunio game.
*Good variation in characters; they really feel unique from one another.
*Funny facial expressions; that point IS a lot like KD! :)

Weak Points:
*Item system not as good as KD; only health pickups.
*Control is weird. Holding down allows for stronger attacks, while in KTNB it was the more obvious block. Pressing punch or kick both select characters at the start, but kick changes their color.
*No translation available. There are really strong moves to pull off, but I wouldn't know about how.
*Game isn't finished.

The story is set after KD. Riki runs into Kunio and asks him about a brand new invitation to another tournament, in which the invitation was written by Kunio himself. Kunio denies this and suspects it was double Ken from "Kunio-tachi no Banka" who wrote the actual letter. Kunio and Riki both decide to take part anyway.

this looks like a combination of the first kakutou densetsu and nekketsu downtown monogatari, although the game title is indeed "Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu 2"...
